Expert Care for Urgent Eye Problems

At Optical eye Lusions, we are proud to provide the Community Urgent Eyecare Service (CUES), an NHS-funded service for patients registered with GP practices within Birmingham and Solihull.

This service offers fast access to professional eye care for sudden or urgent eye problems, helping you receive the treatment you need quickly and safely — without the need to visit your GP or A&E.

If you are experiencing symptoms such as red eyes, sudden changes in vision, flashes and floaters, eye pain, or a foreign body injury, our experienced team is here to help.

Patients who are not registered with a GP in these areas are still welcome to attend and can be assessed privately.

What Sets Us Apart

We are the only Independent Prescribing (IP) Optometrists in the local area offering this enhanced level of urgent eye care.

With advanced qualifications in Therapeutic Prescribing and Independent Prescribing (Dip TP (IP)), we are fully qualified to assess, diagnose, treat, and prescribe NHS medications directly from our practice — including eye drops, creams, and tablets.

This means we can manage and treat many urgent eye conditions in-house, significantly reducing the need for referrals to GPs, A&E, or hospital eye departments.

We are also able to carry out procedures such as foreign body removal and other minor treatments that would otherwise require a hospital visit.

Our expertise allows us to provide prompt, effective, and appropriate care for a wide range of eye conditions — often much faster than traditional routes.
